Forumotion is a forum provider ... but ever since using the gallery function on Fm I'm starting to think forumotion was a typo and they really wanted to call it gallerymotion.


I mean the gallery has individual stats ...
it has a mod CP
it has a rating system
it has transitions effects
its got on hover detail popups
easy moderation dropdowns
new image previews
a free rotating widget


I mean how many of those functions have we been asking for , for our forums?

we want a rating system for threads, and popups and a mod CP and next thread previews... how come they can easily do it for a less used gallery and not for forum posts?

If Forumotion can provide so many features for gallery, then why can't them add same features for topics and forums?

Jalo, i have recently seen those features when i saw those mobile backgrounds here. It was not available earlier.

I think its part of an update which has not yet been announced.

I've activated the gallery for a while--- then closed it
but the functions were there before...

Actually guys its all about the big "b" word, business.

Whenever you pay for gallery space and time for that space, you are upgraded to what they call the "Pro Gallery". This gives nothing else as far as features go, but the space in which those features may be properly used in conjuction with.

The Gallery may have its fancy tricks, but they really only useful for a gallery that is able to host more than the standard 10 or 20 MB. If you have paid for a Pro Gallery that contains 3 GB of space for 1 year, then those fancy features would be of more use than the standard free version.

Now lets review:

Forumotion loves to dwaddle over initializing similar "far out" and "radical" features that compare to the ones in the Gallery because what the users are demanding them for (the forums themselves) are already provided at no cost to the client (you). So Forumotion isn't going to rush in to giving you all these nice rating systems and easy-to-use 'super features'. Instead, they will reserve that for something that you can only, truly, use by paying for (the gallery). Its like a donkey and a carrot. Tease him with the delicious carrot and he'll follow.

That's business 101 for ya. Forumotion is actually pretty damn smart; n00by admins fail to give them credit sometimes.

forumotion should earn cash from domains, ad removal and premium skins, and individual mod installations, and maybe mySQL data.
Currently they only earn on the first 2 and the gallery.

I mean it takes 500 credits to get your gallery upgraded... thats like what $14 ... damn that is a lot, wow they are earning millions.

no ... fact of the matter is , I prefered forumotion when it had more paid features... like template editing. I still think that should be premium.
But simple mods that arn't actually used shouldn't be paid for.

not many ... and simply transfering the rating system can't be a 6 year coding venture? can it?
If Fm want my loose change from under the couch just to activate more mods, why don't they say so? I'd gladly use the credits I got to make my board more personalize by buying premium stuff that some n00b youngster won't have cos he can't afford the mod (or his forum isn't popular enough to get contributions).

I think thats the key to getting people interested in FM ... exclusivity ... and the snob effect

i know i would pay for a REAL cash/points system. not this "points system" crap that only counts post. >.<

I've actually put good use to my points system. I've got a points store selling:

Premium Gametap Accounts
1 Month Premium Netflix memberships
Free Soda for a month
Movie Tickets to whatever movie, at whichever theater
Team/Profile Emblems
Custom Avatar and Signature Sets
Free MP3
Free Library of MP3s
etc. etc.

I actually enjoy their point system. I suppose having a store that integrates with it would be easier for some... but for a creative guy like me that has connections... I think its just fine. XD
